What a beautiful spot, Chaweng Regent Hotel in Koh Samui. My deluxe room was everything
I’d hoped for. From the king-sized bed in the sunken bedroom to the picture-window
surrounded Jacuzzi and the pillars and miniature statues, not to mention the
staff of massage therapists, it was the perfect place to recuperate from
the "rigors" of trekking!
But
I still can't figure out what I did to deserve 5 days of monsoon rain during
my 5-day visit.
Everything, including the main road, was flooded. The hotel used sandbags in a vain attempt to keep the flooded Coast Road out of their parking area! Oh well, it
must have stopped raining for a while, ‘cause I did have two dinners on the beach and only got sprinkled on slightly. As you can see, the beach was not exactly teaming with people. I never even got my bathing suit on! But I had a great time in spite of the weather. Such is life on Koh Samui!
From
Koh Samui it was back to Bangkok (and another visit to the friendly – but expensive – airport "Left Luggage" folks to gather all my belongings) and then on to Singapore.
