Breakfast on Day 3 at Ballathie House was delightful. Too bad it was pouring rain, and stayed that way much of the day!
But stalwarts that we all are (and not having a whole lot of alternatives) off we went on our trusty steeds. By lunchtime most of us had made it to Dunkeld, where we inundated a small restaurant. Notwithstanding the piles of soaking wet jackets, helmets and assorted bags piled inside their front door, they welcomed us with good humour, delicious hot soup and, in my case, the most amazing stuffed potatoes I've ever seen.
By day's end, the Kenmore Hotel, Scotland's oldest inn with nary a straight wall to be found, was a most welcome sight. Previously part of the Taymouth Castle Estate, the Kenmore is located just outside the estate's main entrance and boasts an authentic Robbie Burns poem inscribed by him over the fireplace of what is now, of course, the Poet's Bar.
The next morning (which was overcast, but DRY!) we enjoyed an arranged tour of Taymouth Castle before heading to Alberfeldy and along the shores of Loch Tay to Killin.
